Sharman – Step Down

As with many new build houses, the main problems in this garden were size and lack of privacy.

To create the illusion of space a simple design with a diagonal axis was used. It comprises interlocking rectangular lawns linked by steps and wrapping around a central circular copper water feature.   Changes in level add interest to the garden and do provide a degree of privacy from surrounding houses.  The arbour, being almost 4 feet lower than the rest of garden to provides a bright but private spot to sit and read.

Along the rear and side of the house a raised Cedar deck has been enclosed by trellis to provide a sheltered place for eating outside, and lighting has been installed in the decking and walls, making the area ideal for evening entertaining.
