Berkeley - Garden Extension

This was a challenging but particularly enjoyable project.  The clients wanted to integrate a triangular slice of land they had acquired within their existing garden, and wanted a place to relax with privacy from neighboring houses.

With an unwanted 20m long wall dividing the areas, and nowhere to hide, it was agreed that we should recycle the bricks and use them to create a sunken garden.  Other parts of the existing garden were also recycled.  Plants were divided and spread to give a more unified feel, and a circular pergola and small patio were repositioned to provide access to the sunken area.

To enhance the feeling of privacy, give some much needed shade, and provide a strong point of interest, a large canvas sail was secured above the new seating area.
