Why Design?

Very few things in life are made without a plan and a garden should be no exception.   An effective plan can help to alleviate costly mistakes and in the long term save both time and money.

A plan can include a timetable of events, enabling targets to be set and monitored, giving a point of reference for both client and builder.  It also usually includes illustrations, which not only aid the client in visualizing proposed ideas, they also help a builder transfer ideas and concepts into reality.

Design Process

Initial Consultation
The design process begins with an initial complimentary consultation.  This is our chance meet you, present our work, and discuss your aspirations, requirements, proposed use and budget. The aim of this meeting is to establish a clear project brief.

Site Survey/Analysis
The next stage is a comprehensive survey and inventory of your garden.  From this, a scale outline of your garden can be produced and used to sketch design proposals.

A follow-up meeting will be arranged to view proposals.  Outline costs for building the garden will be discussed at this stage, as will any changes or additions you would like to make to the design.

Once you are happy with the design, we can proceed to produce a Master Plan.  Here we amend our sketched proposals and incorporate any changes you requested.    If necessary, the Master Plan can also include detailed construction drawings, material specifications and tender documentation to take the project to the building stage.

For small garden projects Sequana Gardens can undertake the build.  Please see gardens section for examples of work.

For larger or more complex projects, we can assist in a variety of ways.  We can secure competitive quotes by inviting contractors to tender for the work, or we can project manage the entire process through to completion.

A planting plan can be produced and implemented to complement your design, or for just a part of your garden.  Through our close links with local nurseries we can source all plants and garden artifacts at competitive prices.
